Team Rescues 190-Pound Mastiff, Owner In Millcreek Canyon

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – A search and rescue team was dispatched Sunday night to bring home a man and his very big dog.
Salt Lake County Search and Rescue responded to a call on Grandeur Peak Trail in Millcreek Canyon at approximately 6:30 p.m.
Hikers in the area reported a 190-pound Mastiff named Floyd and his owner were on the trail and unable to move. Crews were able to locate the man and the dog and had both safely off the trail by 10:30 p.m., according to the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue.
“Floyd was packaged in a litter and carried down the mountain,” according to a statement from SLCSSAR. “Floyd was a good boy and was happy to be assisted.”
