SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – According to a report issued by insurance company QuoteWizard, drivers in Salt Lake City are among the worst in the nation.
The report takes data from millions of insurance quotes in the top 75 cities in the country, according to quotewizard.com. The company then analyzes the data based on overall accidents, speeding tickets, DUIs, and citations.
Topping the list was Portland, Oregon, with Boise and Virginia Beach, Virginia, rounding out the top three. Salt Lake City made the No. 6 spot. Filling out the rest of the Top 10 is Columbus, Ohio (4), Sacramento (5), Cleveland (7), Denver (8), San Francisco (9) and Richmond, Virginia (10).
“Average car insurance rates (in Salt Lake City) are higher than both the state and national averages,” according to QuoteWizard. “Thanks to high accident frequency, a vehicle theft rate well above the national average, and an extremely large percentage of uninsured drivers, residents of Salt Lake City have seen the cost of insurance premiums increase by a lot in recent years.”
QuoteWizard also listed the best driving cities in America, with Detroit at No. 1.
Louisville, Kentucky; Chicago; Miami; Grand Rapids, Michigan; Little Rock, Arkansas; St. Louis, New Orleans and Fort Myers, Florida were all ranked in the Top 10 with the nation’s best drivers.
