Voting Begins For Salt Lake County Pet Mayor

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – One Utah election promises to be a ruff political competition — the race for Salt Lake County pet mayor.
Voting begins Thursday, and the winning dog or cat will serve a two-year term of office. There will also be a pet deputy mayor as well as a pet council.
Voters can meed the candidates from 4 – 5 p.m. at the Salt Lake County Animal Services Building, 511 W. 3900 South, during the “Tea PAWty.”

Votes are a dollar each, and you can vote as many times as you’d like. All proceeds go to benefit the Injured Animal Fund. The “PAWlitical Pets” are all Salt Lake County residents, but voters can live anywhere.
“This is the only campaign where it is legal and encouraged to buy the vote!” according to a statement from Animal Services.
