LOGAN, Utah — A Logan man was killed in an ATV crash Sunday evening, according to officials with the Utah Division of Parks and Recreation.
Officials said 35-year-old Core Pimentel and his 6-year-old son were riding on the same ATV Sunday on the Shoshone Trail in the Herd Hollow area of Cache County.
Lieutenant Eric Stucki with the Utah State Parks and Recreation said at some point, the vehicle left the trail and crashed down a 30-foot embankment. Pimentel suffered head injuries after striking a rock and was killed; his son was unharmed in the crash.
Stucki said both were wearing helmets and contributing factors in the crash could include speed and a lack of familiarization with the trail.
Utah state park rangers are investigating and officials with the Cache County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident.
