Pleasant Grove Father Says Family Targeted By Vandalism

PLEASANT GROVE, Utah — A Pleasant Grove man is fed up with vandalism to his property and his vehicles, saying the attacks are getting worse and he fears his son is being targeted.

Seth Holdaway and his family have lived in their Pleasant Grove home for about 17 years. He said they love the community and are surrounded by wonderful neighbors, but it’s getting hard to stay.

“We had a dry ice bomb put in our mailbox,” Holdaway said. “It blew out both sides of the mailbox and shot it up into the air. We’ve had our fenced kicked in and even some graffiti on the fence recently.”

Holdaway estimated there have been about a dozen such incidents since they moved in, but he said it was a situation involving his 17-year-old son that hurt the most.

“My son, Luc, was mowing the lawn and he came in and told me someone drove past and yelled something very explicit at him,” Holdaway said. “They called him a stupid n-word. My son is adopted from Haiti.”

Since then, he said Luc’s car has been targeted multiple times.

“His car was just plastered with mustard and ketchup and mayonnaise everywhere,” he said. “It was way over the top.”

This past weekend, Holdaway said it got worse.

“Luc called me and told me his car was covered in poop,” he said.

Luc was at a friend’s house in Lindon when he discovered the mess.

“His car had just been plastered with horse manure from top to bottom,” he said. “It was all over the car.”

It also happened to be Luc’s birthday. He spent the day cleaning off his car.

Holdaway said they’ve filed numerous police reports and the police have been trying to help, but there isn’t a lot of information to go on.

Holdaway has installed more lights and a doorbell surveillance camera, which recently caught a sedan passing the house slowly three times while hurling pumpkins toward the property.

Holdaway said he wants whoever it is to stop and he’s hoping the community will help to find the person or people responsible.

“Maybe somebody saw something or heard something,” he said. “Let’s find out who it is before it gets to the point where somebody gets hurt or something happens that can’t be undone.”

If you have any information, you’re asked to contact Pleasant Grove or Lindon police.
