SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – An overnight storm dumped inches of snow across Utah, blanketing roads and making driving difficult.
“It’s one of those mornings where you’re making your own tracks,” KSL meteorologist Grant Weyman said about driving on I-15.
According to the Utah Transit Authority, hundreds of plows were being deployed across the state as snow continued to fall on major freeways.
And the storm isn’t finished, Weyman said.
“It’s coming in waves,” he said. “… It’s not going to snow all day. It’ll let up for a little bit and come back.”
Another one of those waves is expected to hit the state Friday morning, with widespread snow and some rain.
“Snow showers will continue through Saturday morning, bringing snowfall totals to between 5 – 10 inches in the northern valleys, 6 – 12 inches in the central valleys, and 12 – 36 inches in the mountains,” according to KSL meteorologist Dan Guthrie.
For those traveling, Weyman suggested waiting until the weekend to hit the roads.
“Things are looking a lot better (on Saturday), with dry roads for much of us and improved conditions when we get to the weekend,” he said.
As for Thanksgiving Day, though: “Take it easy out there,” Weyman said. “It’s going to stay slick on the roads probably most of the day.”
