BRIGHAM CITY, Utah – Arrangements are underway to receive the remains of fallen Army Apache helicopter pilot, Kirk T. Fuchigami, who died while serving in Afghanistan in November.

Fuchigami is originally from Keaau, Hawaii but has serval ties to Utah. His wife, McKenzie Fuchigami, is from Corinne, and he will be buried in Brigham City.

Chief Warrant Officer 2 Kirk Takeshi Fuchigami’s remains will arrive at the Ogden-Hinckley Airport on Saturday, Dec. 7, at approximately 1:10 p.m., where they will be received by his wife and family.

The 25-year-old was one of two Army pilots, along with 33-year-old Chief Warrant Officer 2 David Knadle of Texas, who died in a helicopter crash while providing security for troops on the ground in Logar province on Nov. 20, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.

A dignified transfer for Fuchigami will follow along Interstate 15 to the mortuary, located at 205 South 100 East, in Brigham City.

The Follow the Flag group will take part with volunteers holding flags along the route, as well as the Patriot Riders.

Funeral services are planned for Fuchigami on Monday morning at 11 a.m. at a chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 895 North 625 West in Brigham City. He will then be buried with full military honors and a military flyover at the Brigham City Cemetery, located at 300 South 300 East.
