SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has announced the location of the first temple ever to be built in India. Renderings of the new temple were also released.
The new temple will be constructed in Bengaluru, about 1400 miles south of the Indian capital of New Delhi.
Church officials said the Bengaluru India Temple will serve around 1,400 Latter-day Saints.
The announcement was made Wednesday.
In addition to the new 38,670-square-foot temple, the church plans to build a new two-level meeting house, church offices and a distribution center on the 1.62-acre site.
