GRANTSVILLE, Utah – Authorities have released the identities of the victims who were shot and killed at a home in Grantsville on Jan. 17.

At a press conference on Monday, Corporal Rhonda Fields with the Grantsville Police Department identified them as mother Consuelo Alejandra Haynie, 52; and children Alexis, 15; Matthew, 14; and Maylan, 12.

The father, 50-year-old Colin Haynie, was injured and survived. He was taken to an area hospital in stable condition and has since been released.

“Our hearts go out to the families, loved ones and the close-knit neighborhood affected by this emotional, tragic incident,” said Grantsville Mayor Brent Marshall.

The suspect’s identity was not released. Police said he was booked into jail on four counts of aggravated murder, one count of attempted aggravated murder and multiple counts of felony discharge of a firearm.

Authorities said he’s refused to speak with investigators, but he’s believed to be a member of the family. He did not sustain any injuries.

Police said additional details will be released at a later time.

“There are a lot of ends to be tied up, there are a lot of questions we would like to answer,” Fields said. “Unfortunately there may be some questions we never will be able to answer.”

She said how the suspect obtained the firearm used in the shooting is under investigation.

“We don’t believe that there’s any concern of him getting the gun outside of the household, we have not been able to say for sure who the gun owner was,” Fields said.
