REXBURG, Idaho – The deadline has passed for the mother of two missing Idaho children to produce them, following a court order.
The grandparents of 7 year old JJ Vallow were disappointed Thursday night as his mother failed to bring him and his sister 17-year-old Tylee Ryan back to Rexburg per the court order.
During a press conference following the 5 p.m. deadline, the children’s grandmother said she knows 46-year-old Lori Vallow and her new Husband Chad Daybell are in Hawaii.
The children have not been seen since September. Police say their mother never reported them missing, and instead fled the state with her new husband Chad Daybell.
The couple was found on Saturday in Hawaii where Lori was served. Police say there was no sign of the children. The grandparents met with FBI agents and Police today in Rexburg, and although they didn’t provide specific details they say they are happy with what may come next for Lori.
“Everybody has to be accountable if you’re not accountable to the law, then you are accountable to God, so at least right now, they are going to make her accountable to the law,” Kay Woodcock said.
Rexburg Police and the Madison County Prosecutors said Lori could be in contempt of court, but declined to provide specific details of what comes next because Child Protection Acts are sealed. However, Kay says extradition is something that was discussed during today’s meeting.
Salt Lake Attorney Greg Skordas said failure to meet Thursday’s deadline is a misdemeanor. He said he also expects Lori would be extradited back to Idaho – a process which could take several weeks.
