SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Over eight-and-a-half inches of snow fell at the Salt Lake City International Airport over the last 24 hours, breaking an 84-year-old record.
KSL meteorologists said 8.6″ of snow was measured just before 5 p.m. on Monday, breaking the 24-hour snowfall record for Feb. 3.
The record had stood since 1936, when seven inches of snow fell at the airport.
Flights in and out of SLC were still seeing 60- to 90-minute delays as aircraft continued to catch up to their set schedules, according to airport officials.
Snow removal crews were transitioning to clean-up mode Monday evening.
Weather is causing flight delays between 60 and 90 minutes this morning @slcairport. Passengers are encouraged to check with their airline regarding possible delays. Plan extra time to get to the airport. Safe travels.
