Driver Dies In Wrong-Way Crash On I-80 In Parleys Canyon

SALT LAKE CITY – A driver has died after traveling the wrong way on Interstate 80 eastbound in Parleys Canyon, just one mile east of the quarry, and crashing into a semi-truck.
The incident occurred just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday.

Officials said the driver was traveling westbound in an SUV on the eastbound lanes of I-80 when the driver crashed into a semi-truck head-on. The driver of the SUV was partially ejected from the vehicle.
The driver died from his injuries.
Officers said the semi-truck driver was evaluated by medical personnel at the scene but was not transported to the hospital.
The identities of the drivers have not yet been released.
Investigators said they believe the driver of the SUV was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The incident is currently under investigation.
