SOUTH JORDAN, Utah – A pedestrian was listed in extremely critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in the Daybreak neighborhood in South Jordan.

The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. Friday near West Daybreak Parkway and South Grandville Ave.

Sgt. Sam Winkler with the South Jordan Police Department said they received reports that a man had been hit while crossing the road, potentially going against the signal when he crossed.

The driver was in the right lane traveling eastbound on Daybreak Parkway when the driver hit him. The man was transported in an ambulance to IMC in extremely critical condition.

The eastbound roadway was closed for a few hours as officials investigated the scene.

The identities of the pedestrian and the driver have not been released at this time.

Winkler said there have been no indications of impairment by the driver, but officials are investigating.
