WASHINGTON TERRACE, Utah – One man was injured during an officer-involved shooting in Ogden early Friday, authorities said.
Lt. Cortney Ryan, with the the Weber County Sheriff’s Office, said the incident started Thursday at approximately 9:45 p.m. when deputies responded to a domestic dispute in the area of 500 West and 5000 South.
The domestic incident was between an adult son and his mother, Ryan said.
“The son had left the residence prior to our arrival,” he said. “About an hour after that, we started to get phone calls down in the Riverdale area of a reckless driver – a possible DUI – involved in a couple of hit-and-runs.”
Ryan said calls came in from an apartment complex the Washington Terrace area of a vehicle that matched the description of the one seen in Riverdale. Callers also said a man was “stumbling around the parking lot.”
The deputy was able to locate the suspect, who Ryan said was the same man from the domestic call. There was an altercation at the man’s house, and shots were fired.
The deputy at the scene was not injured, but the suspect was shot and transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect’s identity has not yet been released.
The deputy involved has been placed on paid administrative leave, according to a statement from WCSO. The Weber County Attorney’s Office Critical Incident Team will conduct an independent investigation.
