OREM, Utah – Teachers at an elementary school in Utah County kicked off a return to school after spring break with a parade for all their students.
It was the first day back for Westmore Elementary School in Orem, and the teachers and principal wanted to start off with something memorable.
Car after car, teachers with specials messages, made their way up and down each block to wave and honk “hello” to their students.

It was the first time preschoolers to 6th graders have seen their teachers in nearly a month, since shifting to at-home learning during the coronavirus pandemic.
During a time of so much uncertainty it was also a way to reassure their students they are missed and they are loved.
Some preparation work went into the parade, as well. Teachers met early to make signs.
“We thought a parade would be a pick me up for the students for the teachers and for the parents and we want them to know we can get through this together,” said principal Rachelle Spencer.
