EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah – A 9-year-old boy has died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash, according to officials with the Utah County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash happened around 12:45 p.m. Tuesday in the suburban area of Mohican Drive and Golden Eagle Road. Sgt. Spencer Cannon said the boy was driving a small dirt bike when he hit a curb and crashed into a tree.
Cannon said the child was wearing a helmet but suffered “severe upper-body injuries” and was in extremely critical condition after the crash.
First responders and witnesses performed CPR on the boy but he died shortly after.
Cannon said the bike was not street legal and was a small motorcycle designed for off-road use.
The boy’s name was not released and his body will be taken to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.
