SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Many nonessential businesses will be conducting soft openings Friday as the state moves from “high risk” to “moderate risk.”
As part of the Utah Leads Together 2.0 plan, the state has been taking extreme precautions to slow the spread of the coronavirus and flatten the curve as part of the high risk phase. Under the moderate risk phase, some of those restrictions are being loosened.
So what does that mean for you? Here are the guidelines the general public is being asked to follow during this phase:
- Wear face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain
- Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
- Use hand sanitizer frequently
- Avoid touching your face
- Cover coughs and sneezes into a a tissue or elbow
- Do not shake hands
- In-person interactions should be kept to group sizes of 20 people or fewer
- Leave home infrequently, and stay 6 feet away from others when outside the home
- Regularly disinfect high touch areas such as door handles, buttons, countertops, handrails, light switches, and restroom surfaces
- Keep schools closed
- Work and volunteer remotely unless not possible
- Limit out-of-state travel
- Quarantine 14 days upon return from high-risk areas
- Do not allow children on public playgrounds
If Utahns can continue following these guidelines, the state can move into the “low risk” phase of the plan, which will further ease suggested restrictions on staying home and limiting in-person interactions. Social interactions with groups will be changed to 50 people or fewer, and schools and all businesses will be allowed to operate.
