SALT LAKE CITY — A 19-year-old girl was shot in the leg early Saturday morning while watching illegal street racing in Salt Lake City.
Lt. Brett Olsen with the Salt Lake City Police Department said she was watching the racing around 12:30 a.m. Saturday near 3455 West and Ninigret Drive when she heard gunfire.
The teen eventually realized she had been shot.
She then went home before going to the hospital.
Olsen said her injuries were “not at all life-threatening.”
He added that street racing is really “a problem” in this area.
Officials said they don’t know much about the incident, but will be looking to review surveillance footage.
