SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Department of Transportation warned drivers to be on alert for delays and lane closures this weekend on Interstate 15 in Salt Lake City, Murray and Juab County.
UDOT said this is just the beginning of a series of weekend closures on I-15 over the next month in Salt Lake City.
Southbound I-15 between Beck Street and 2100 South will be reduced to one lane starting Friday at 9 p.m. until 8 a.m. Saturday.
It will go down to one lane again at 9 p.m. Saturday night and remain closed all day through Sunday.
“It is important work we are doing out there on I-15,” said UDOT spokesman John Gleason. “We are repairing the concrete pavement. We want to make sure people have a safe ride.”
The ramp from westbound I-215 to southbound I-15 will also close Sunday at 10 p.m. It was scheduled to reopen Monday morning.
Similar closures will take place each of the next three weekends.
In Juab County, lanes will be affected by an ongoing project to install fiber-optic lines to connect traffic cameras and other devices to the UDOT traffic notification system along the interstate.
