Wrong-Way Driver Dies In Head-On Collision With Semi On I-80

TOOELE COUNTY, Utah – One person died after a head-on collision with a semi-truck on I-80 early Wednesday, authorities said.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol, a driver was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes just before 1 a.m. when the crash happened. The driver of the vehicle was killed during the impact. The semi driver was uninjured.
UHP Sgt. Evan Kirby said officials are investigating whether impairment or a medical incident were factors in the crash.
The driver, a 43-year-old Utah man, has not yet been identified pending notification of family.
