Man Hospitalized After Auto-Pedestrian Crash On I-15 In Orem
OREM, Utah – One person was taken to the hospital after police said they were struck by a vehicle walking in the lanes of Interstate 15 in Orem.
Officials with the Utah Highway Patrol responded to the scene near Center Street early Sunday morning.
Investigators initially believed the man was walking on the shoulder, but have since said he appeared to be in the roadway a lane or two from the right.
Details about the crash itself were not available, or why the man was in the roadway. Trooper Valdez said they did not believe it was an attempt at self-harm.
The man, whose identity was not released, was transported by medical helicopter to the hospital. He was listed in serious condition.
Northbound I-15 was closed between two to three hours.
