One Dead, One Hospitalized After Plane Crash In Centerville

CENTERVILLE, Utah — One person has died and another was hospitalized in critical condition after a plane crashed in Davis County on Thursday.
Authorities on Friday identified the deceased as Andre Kostrzewa, 72, of Salt Lake City.
According to the Centerville Police Department, the experimental plane crashed Wednesday at 12:54 p.m. in an empty field located at 1950 North just west of Legacy Parkway, leading to a 10-acre fire.

Two individuals were found inside the plane. Officials said they were rescued by passersby who witnessed the crash.
Centerville and Farmington police officers moved the victims from the burning field and transported them to a nearby parking lot, according to the CPD. The two were then transported by helicopter to the hospital.
Kostrzewa, who owned the plane, was pronounced dead at the hospital. A 47-year-old passenger was listed in critical condition.
Robinson said the two rescuers were treated on scene after receiving minor burns while pulling the passengers out.
Sgt. Nick Street with the Utah Highway Patrol said the scene was “quite fiery” when officials arrived.
Officials said the plane’s flight originated in Bountiful. The aircraft was supposed to land in Ogden.

The Centerville Police Department was handling the situation and said the Federal Aviation Administration would be investigating the crash.
