PROVO, Utah — A 13-year-old male is being airlifted after he crashed his UTV on the 4-wheeler access road above the Springdell community in Provo Canyon.
Information as to how the crash occurred was not released. Officials said they don’t know if he was wearing a helmet.
Capt. Sam Armstrong of Provo Fire & Rescue said the teen probably broke his upper leg.
The 13-year-old was with his family when he crashed. His dad reportedly went to Springdell to call paramedics.
The teen is medicated and secure, according to Armstrong.
A LifeFlight helicopter was called in to hoist him out, but crews decided to get him out another way.
Armstrong said they will meet with the flight team at the Springdell baseball field and fly him out.
