Church Announces New Name For Washington County Temple

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the previously-named Washington County Utah Temple will be renamed to the Red Cliffs Utah Temple.
Construction has not yet begun on the temple.
According to an updated statement from the Church, leaders approved the name change on June 19.
Church President Russell M. Nelson announced the temple during the October 2018 General Conference. The Red Cliffs Utah Temple will be the second temple in Washington County.
It will be located in the area of 3000 East and 1580 South in St. George.

The St. George Utah Temple was closed Nov. 4, 2019, for renovations and is expected to reopen in 2022.
A groundbreaking date for the Red Cliffs Utah Temple will be announced at a later date.
