OGDEN, Utah – Officials with the Ogden Police Department said one man was killed after crashing his vehicle while fleeing from officers.
OPD Lt. Will Farr said three officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the incident, which began Tuesday evening in the 2600 block of Monroe Boulevard.
Police said they stopped the driver for a traffic violation. When officers asked him to step out of the car, he refused and sped off, dragging one officer.

One witness told KSL he saw the officer grab onto the car’s steering wheel before the driver fled the scene.
“I was at a stoplight and two cops tried to grab the suspect out of a red car,” said Brian Palacios. “They tried to grab him, a cop grabbed onto the steering wheel … and then they took off and the cop tried to grab on … and dipped with them.”
The man began to drive erratically, and the officer was ejected from the car two blocks away, according to Farr.
The driver then turned onto Sullivan Road and lost control of the vehicle. Officials said the car struck an Ogden police vehicle that had pulled over to the side of the road before traveling across all lanes and striking another car.
Farr said the driver who was fleeing was killed in the crash despite lifesaving efforts from medical personnel.
The driver of the car that was hit, a 59-year-old male, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at the scene.
Farr said three officers were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Utah Highway Patrol will be investigating the incident and no further details were released.
