Planet Fitness Announces Masks Will Be Required Beginning Aug. 1

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Planet Fitness has announced masks will be required inside all its locations beginning Aug. 1.
The gym chain made the announcement July 27.
“We want our members to gym confidently in a safe environment,” according to the company’s statement. “Therefore, we’ve enhanced our safety and cleaning policies. Beginning August 1st, masks are required to be worn while inside our clubs – including members and PF Team Members.”

Locations will have masks available for members who forget them.
Planet Fitness is the first major gym in Utah to announce a mask mandate. VASA Fitness and Eos Fitness gyms both recommend members wear masks, but face coverings are not mandatory.
Many national retail stores are also requiring customers to wear masks, including Walmart, Target and Costco.
