Utah Reports 378 New COVID-19 Cases, 7 New Deaths; 181 Currently Hospitalized

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Department of Health on Tuesday announced 378 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and seven new deaths.

The rolling seven-day average is 428 new cases per day, or 9.8% of those tested. The state has tested 544,956 people so far, with 41,907 of those patients testing positive for COVID-19.

A total of 321 Utahns have died from the virus. The following deaths were reported Tuesday:

Salt Lake County

  • Female, older than 85, long-term care facility resident
  • Female, between 65 and 84, long-term care facility resident
  • Female, between 65 and 84, long-term care facility resident
  • Male, between 65 and 84, hospitalized prior to death
  • Male, between 65 and 84, long-term care facility resident
  • Male, older than 85, not hospitalized at time of death

Davis County

  • Female, between 65 and 84, hospitalized at time of death

There are 181 patients currently hospitalized with the virus, and 83 of those patients are in intensive care units. Another 45 patients are hospitalized as COVID-19 persons under investigation. According to UDOH, 49.5% of all non-ICU beds and 66.8% of all ICU beds in Utah hospitals are occupied.

The state is considering 30,449 cases as recovered, meaning those patients received a positive diagnosis more than three weeks ago and they have not died.
