Utah Reports 587 New COVID-19 Cases, 3 New Deaths; 190 Hospitalized

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Department of Health on Thursday announced 587 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and three new deaths.

The number has increased slightly after five straight days of fewer than 500 positive cases per day. The rolling seven-day average for positive tests is 449 per day, or 10% of those tested.

A total of 555,391 people have been tested, 42,915 of those tested positive.

Currently, there are 190 patients hospitalized with the virus, and 80 of those patients are in intensive care units. According to UDOH, 50.7% of all non-ICU beds and 62.5% of all ICU beds in Utah hospitals are occupied.

There have been 330 total deaths from COVID-19. The following deaths were reported Thursday:

  • Female, between 45 and 64, Davis County resident, long-term care facility resident
  • Male, between 45 and 64, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • Male, older than 85, Utah County resident, long-term care facility resident

The state is considering 31,619 cases as recovered, meaning those patients received a positive diagnosis more than three weeks ago and they have not died.
