WEST JORDAN, Utah – A West Jordan Fire Department employee discovered a body inside a burning vehicle late Friday morning.
Lt. Rich Bell with the West Jordan Police Department said the vehicle was discovered at approximately 11:20 a.m. in the area of 7500 South and Jordan Landing Boulevard.
One of the WJFD’s administrative staff was driving to the fire station when he saw a black Toyota on the side of the road that was emitting heat and smoke, Bell said. The staffer stopped to help and broke out one of the windows in order to fight the blaze using a fire extinguisher.
He then discovered a deceased body inside the burning car.
Bell said the investigation is still in its early stages, and authorities are treating it as a suspicious death. The victim has not been identified.
