Call Of Shots Fired In West Valley Leads To Police Chase

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – A shots fired call turned into a police chase spanning much of Salt Lake County.
The incident began at a hotel along Decker Lake Drive in West Valley City. When police arrived, they found no evidence of a shooting, but officers did see two cars speed away from the area.
Police pursued the vehicles, and the chase continued as far as Taylorsville before authorities lost the vehicles on Bangerter Highway.
Police later discovered one of the vehicles abandoned near 3200 West and 5100 South. Investigators later found he driver of the second vehicle trying to pick up the driver of the abandoned car, and officers took them both into custody.
One was eventually arrested and the other was released.
In the abandoned car, police said they found a gun and a bullet shell casing.
No additional information was available on possible charges or the identity of those taken into custody.
