DRAPER, Utah – Search and rescue crews were called out to Lone Peak overnight to help a dehydrated hiker make it down the mountain.
A 21-year-old man was coming down the mountain Friday around 10 p.m. when he called to ask for help.
Officials said the man was descending in the dark and had run out of water.
Two teams from Salt Lake County Search and Rescue responded to carry fluids and lights to the hiker.
They were able to ping his exact location using the GPS on his phone, and told him to stay in place until crews reached him.
Officials said the man was suffering from minor heat-related symptoms.
After he was rehydrated, crews accompanied the man down the trail. Crews and the hiker were off the mountain by 4 a.m.
