Body found in Iron County identified as woman missing from St. George

IRON COUNTY, Utah — A body that was located in a remote area of western Iron County has been identified as a woman missing from the St. George area. Officials said they are treating her death as a homicide.
The Iron County Sheriff’s Office said Cedar Communications received a call about a body being located in a remote area of western Iron County around 9:00 a.m. Sunday.
Investigators discovered the body of an adult female and determined it had been in the area for some time.
The body was transported to the Utah State Medical Examiner Office and later identified as 26-year-old Stevie Shay Wilkerson, who had been reported missing from the St. George area on Sunday, Aug. 9.
The Iron County Sheriff’s Office said the “circumstances surrounding the death of Wilkerson is being treated as a homicide.”
Officials are now conducting an investigation.
Anyone with information about Wilkerson has been asked to call the Iron County Sheriff’s Office.
