DRAPER, Utah – Students at Corner Canyon High School will transition to a split schedule after district officials reported a sudden increase in COVID-19 cases at the school.
Canyons School District officials said the school will close Monday before making the transition on Tuesday.
Starting on Tuesday, Charger students will attend school on the following schedule:
- Tuesday, Sept. 15 (A-Day) for students with last names starting with letters A-K
- Wednesday, Sept. 16 (B-Day) for students with last names starting with letters A-K
- Thursday, Sept. 17 (A-Day) for students with last names starting with letters L-Z
- Friday, Sept. 18 (B-Day) for students with last names starting with letters L-Z
Officials hope to return to a normal schedule with in-person classes five days a week on Sept. 21.
“However, if confirmed active COVID-19 cases associated with Corner Canyon High continue to rise, the temporary schedule may remain intact or other additional precautionary measures may need to be taken with the guidance of the Salt Lake County Health Department,” officials said. “To keep case counts from rising further, we ask the Charger community for continued adherence to health and safety protocols. Parents are urged to continue monitoring children for symptoms of COVID-19. Please contact a health provider immediately if your child begins to suffer a fever, cough, or has difficulty breathing. Please keep your child home if they are ill. Now, more than ever, it is important that we observe physical distancing recommendations and wear face coverings while on campus or participating in after-school activities.”
