WILLARD, Utah – Deputies with the Box Elder County Sheriff Office were called out to Willard Bay after a woman reported she had been assaulted, choked and nearly kicked out of a moving vehicle.
The 59-year-old woman was found on the north side of Willard Bay on Dike Road around noon Monday.
When officials arrived on scene, they also found 51-year-old Douglas John Hulse unresponsive in the same area.
A news release said Hulse was revived on scene with naloxone, a drug used to reverse the effects of an overdose.
The woman said the two had been in a relationship for several months.
According to a court document, Hulse beat up the woman while they were driving. The document said he choked the woman and told her he was going to kill her.
“The defendant also grabbed the victim by her head and slammed the victim’s head into the steering wheel. The Defendant tried to kick the victim out of the vehicle with his foot, while the vehicle was still moving,” court documents said.
The woman told officials that Hulse choked her to unconsciousness during a previous encounter that morning. She said she was also sexually assaulted, according to the document.
Officials said the woman had several bruises, including some near her neck. She also had several cuts.
They were both taken to the hospital for treatment. Hulse was charged with aggravated assault and object rape.
