SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – This week is Child Passenger Safety Week in Utah.
Every day when you get behind the wheel you go through the check list: keys, mirrors, seatbelt. It’s second nature. There needs to be a second nature when it comes to ensuring child passengers are safe, too.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol, every 32 seconds, a child under the age of 13 riding in a car is involved in a crash.
Road injuries are at the top of the list of unintentional deaths for children in the U.S., and proper use of a car seat or a booster can reduce the risk of death by as much as 71%.
Approximately 60% of car seats are installed incorrectly, according to the Utah Department of Public Safety
