SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Millions will be watching the vice presidential debate happening in Salt Lake City on Wednesday.
With just hours before Vice President Mike Pence and Democratic vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris are set to debate, a different kind of event took place downtown.
The Republican Attorneys General Association held a press conference at the Grand America Hotel to argue against Harris’s record as the former attorney general of California. They spoke out against her environmental policies, illegal immigration, and police reform.
Attorneys general from Utah, Louisiana and Arkansas spoke at the event ahead of the debate.
Utah AG Sean Reyes shared his thoughts on what he hoped to hear during the vice presidential debate.
“That there’ll be an emphasis on the economy and the regulatory state administrative state,” he said during the press conference. “Another thing I hope that gets coverage is the issue of peace in the Middle East and incredible gains this administration has made there.”
He also said he hopes to hear debate on the fight against human trafficking and child exploitation.
“You can’t do that by defunding the police,” he said.
