Utah Reports 1,007 New COVID-19 Cases, 226 Current Hospitalizations, 8 New Deaths

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Department of Health on Wednesday reported 1,007 new cases of COVID-19 and eight new deaths.

Testing
The state reported 5,839 tests yesterday, 1,007 of which were positive. Utah has tested 881,440 people so far, and 80,446 of those tests returned positive. There have been a total of 1,154,575 tests reported.
The rolling seven-day average for positive tests is 1,044 per day, and the rolling seven-day average for percent of positive laboratory tests is 13.8%.
Hospitalizations
There are currently 226 patients hospitalized with the virus, 87 of which are in intensive care units. Another seven patients are currently hospitalized as COVID-19 persons under investigation.
UDOH reports 53.3% of all non-ICU beds and 72.4% of all ICU beds in Utah hospitals are now occupied.
Deaths
A total of 496 Utahns have died from the virus. The following deaths were reported Wednesday:
- Female, older than 85, Washington County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Female, between 65-84, Utah County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Female, older than 85, Millard County resident, not hospitalized at time of death
- Female, older than 85, Utah County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Female, older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, unknown if hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 45-64, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Female, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
Recoveries
The state is considering 59,289 cases as recovered, meaning those patients received a positive diagnosis more than three weeks ago and they have not died.
