Police Tackle Suspect Accused Of Pistol Whipping Man At Party

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – A man is recovering from injuries after being assaulted and pistol whipped at a party that turned violent, authorities said.
The incident happened at approximately 111:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Redwood Apartments in the area of 4000 South and Redwood Road.
West Valley City police said not only was a gun involved, but a knife was too. Thankfully, the situation did not turn deadly.
When officers arrived at the suspect’s apartment, they said they noticed the man had a gun.
Police said they were on the verge of leaving to de-escalate the situation with plans to return at a later time. However, the individual then attempted to escape through an apartment window, and police pursued him on foot.
Officers tackled the suspect and took him into custody.
The man allegedly also took items from the victim. He could be facing aggravated robbery and assault charges, as well as resisting police. The suspect is also a restricted person, meaning he should not have had a gun.
The victim who was assaulted was taken to the hospital.
