Utah Reports 988 New COVID-19 Cases, 5 New Deaths, 249 Current Hospitalizations

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Department of Health Monday has reported 988 new cases of COVID-19 and five new deaths.
There are currently 249 patients hospitalized with the virus.

Testing
Utah reported an increase of 4,360 tests since yesterday, with 988 of those tests returning positive.
In total, there have been 922,931 people tested, with 86,832 of those tests returning positive.
The state has reported a total of 1,218,932 tests.
The rolling seven-day average for positive tests is 1,145 per day, and the rolling seven-day average for percent of positive laboratory tests is 13.9%.
Hospitalizations
There are 249 patients hospitalized with the virus, 94 of which are in intensive care units. Another 10 patients are currently hospitalized as COVID-19 persons under investigation.
UDOH reports 49.7% of all non-ICU beds and 64.2% of all ICU beds are occupied.
Deaths
A total of 522 Utahns have died from COVID-19. The following deaths were reported Monday:
- Male, between 65-84, Davis County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Female, between 45-64, Garfield County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Female, older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, between 64-85, Washington County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, between 64-85, Washington County resident, long-term care facility resident
Recoveries
The state is considering 63,961 cases as “recovered,” meaning those patients received a positive diagnosis more than three weeks ago and they have not died.
