PROVO, Utah – The mouth of Provo Canyon has been reopened Monday after the Range Fire burning in Utah County forced its closure Saturday.
However, some road closures still remain in place.
Westbound U.S. 189 through Provo Canyon has the right lane closed from mile post 14 at the state Route 92 junction to 800 North in Orem. The eastbound lanes of U.S. 189 are open.
SR 92 is closed in both directions between U.S. 189 and Cascade Springs Drive.
The fire has burned more than 3,100 acres and is 10% contained. Authorities said it was human caused, though the official cause hasn’t been determined.
The blaze sparked near a gun range near 1000 East and Cascade Drive in Orem, just north of the canyon.
Officials said air quality in Provo is expected to be poor Monday, so residents are advised to stay indoors if possible and keep the windows and doors closed. If outside, residents should try to avoid strenuous activity.
