11 More Utahns Have Died, And 2,517 More Test Positive For COVID-19

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Health officials on Tuesday reported 2,517 more Utahns have tested positive for COVID-19.
Another 11 Utahns have died as a result of the virus.
Currently, 435 people with COVID-19 are being treated in Utah hospitals.
Testing
The Utah Department of Health reported 1,180,749 Utahns have been tested so far, which is an increase of 12,826 people since yesterday.
Of those, a total of 137,385 tested positive for COVID-19, which is an increase of 2,517 from yesterday.
The rolling seven day average for positive tests is 2,554 per day, and the rolling seven-day average for percent of positive tests is at 21.9%.
Hospitalizations
There are currently 435 people with COVID-19 who are hospitalized, and 185 of those are in intensive care units. Another 18 patients are currently hospitalized as COVID-19 persons under investigation.
Right now, 76.1% of the state’s ICU beds are occupied. However, as Utah’s health care leaders have reiterated, ICU beds are not usable if there aren’t staff to treat the patients.
Currently, the state’s ICU utilization warning is at 77%, and the utilization threshold is 85%.
UDOH reports that 50.1% of all non-ICU beds are occupied.
Deaths
On Tuesday, the UDOH reported that 11 more Utahns have died as a direct result of COVID-19. That brings the death toll to 672.
Authorities reported the recent deaths of the following residents:
- Female, between 65-84, Wasatch County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 45-64, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Davis County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 45-64, Utah County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, older than 85, Utah County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Washington County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 25-44, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Utah County resident, not hospitalized
- Female, older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Female, between 65-84, Wasatch County resident, unknown if hospitalized or long-term care facility resident
