14 Utahns Have Died From COVID-19; 573 Hospitalized & 2K More Test Positive

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Officials with the Utah Department of Health reported 2,043 Utahns have tested positive for COVID-19, and an additional 14 of the state’s residents have died as a result of the virus.
According to health officials, 573 people with COVID-19 are being treated in Utah hospitals.
Testing
UDOH reported 1,412,084 Utahns have been tested for the virus so far. That’s an increase of 7,443 tests since Friday.
Of those, a total of 192,087 have tested positive for COVID-19.
The rolling seven-day average for positive tests has dropped slightly, to 2,575 per day. The rolling seven-day average for percent of positive tests rose to 21.4%.
Hospitalizations
Currently, 573 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, and 207 of those are in intensive care units. Another eight people are currently hospitalized with suspected cases of COVID-19.
The state’s ICU occupancy, which had been above the 85% threshold for quality care, dropped slightly to 81.7%. The ICU beds in Utah’s 16 hospitals best equipped to care for COVID-19 patients were 85.1% full.
UDOH also reported Utah’s non-ICU beds are 48.7% full.
Deaths
Authorities reported an additional 14 people have died as a result of COVID-19, which brings Utah’s death toll to 863.
The following individual’s deaths were reported Saturday:
- Male, between 25-44, Washington County resident, not hospitalized at time of death
- Female, older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Female, between 25-44, Weber County resident, unknown if hospitalized at time of death
- Female, older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Davis County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 25-44, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, older than 85, Washington County resident, not hospitalized at time of death
- Female, older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Washington County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Female, between 45-64, Weber County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Utah County resident, hospitalized at time of death
