10 More Die From COVID, 7-Day Average For Positive Tests Climbs To 27.1%

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – An additional 2,231 Utahns have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the latest report from the Utah Department of Health, and the rolling seven-day average for positive tests has climbed to 27.1%.
Another 10 residents have lost their lives because of the virus, bringing the state’s death toll to 949.
Currently, 582 people are hospitalized with COVID-19.
Testing
UDOH reported a total of 1,502,902 Utahns have been tested so far, which is an increase of 7,551 from Sunday’s report.
Of those, a total of 217,638 have tested positive for COVID-19. That’s an increase of 2,231 cases from yesterday.
The rolling seven-day average for positive tests is 3,125 per day, and the rolling seven-day average for percent of positive laboratory tests is 27.1%.
Hospitalizations
Currently, there are 582 people who are hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19, and 215 of those patients are in intensive care units. Another 10 people are hospitalized with suspected cases of COVID-19.
The state’s ICU beds are 86.4% full, which is just above the threshold for quality care.
Utah’s referral center ICU beds are 90.8% occupied. Referral Centers are the 16 hospitals in Utah with the capability to provide the best care for patients with COVID-19. Because most patients are transferred to these facilities, their utilization is the best reflection of the true hospital capacity in Utah when looking at ICU beds.
Hospitals’ non-ICU beds are currently 50.7% full.
Deaths
Authorities reported another 10 Utahns have died as a direct result of COVID-19. So far, 949 of the state’s residents have lost their lives because of the virus.
On Monday, the following individuals’ deaths were reported:
- Female, older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Female, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, not hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Sanpete County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Female, between 65-84, Utah County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Utah County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Female, between 65-84, Weber County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Female, between 65-84, Washington County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, between 65-84, Washington County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Weber County resident, long-term care facility resident
