FBI Arrests Suspected Serial Bank Robber In SLC

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The FBI said a suspected serial bank robber was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon.
Officials said Edward Begley, 64, was arrested shortly after a robbery at the U.S. Bank location at 1575 South Main Street in Salt Lake City.
Court documents said a Salt Lake City police officer spotted Begley driving a car that matched the description used by the suspect in the U.S. Bank robbery.
The officer stopped the car and court documents said Begley confessed to the Tuesday bank robbery, as well as two other robberies. There may be others.
Begley is now facing charges in connection with four robberies:
- Oct. 13 — Wells Fargo Bank at 2001 South Main Street in Salt Lake City
- Oct. 13 — U.S. Bank at 1575 South Main Street in Salt Lake City
- Nov. 30 — U.S. Bank at 1575 South Main Street in Salt Lake City
- Dec. 8 — U.S. Bank at 1575 South Main Street in Salt Lake City
Begley is scheduled to appear in federal court Friday.
