The truck driver was also transported to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Brandi Wiley’s home was narrowly missed by the dump truck and said she rushed to check on the driver.
“He said that his brakes weren’t working, that he was trying to stop but couldn’t,” she said.
Wiley added the driver was rescued from the mangled truck by a neighbor and a good Samaritan.
“He ran out of his vehicle, and he had his fire extinguisher and he was able to break open the window of the guy driving,” Wiley said.
Brian Wanlass was driving to work when he said he was sideswiped by the truck.
“I spun through the intersection and then made my way out of the car,” he said. “It looked like World War III.”
The power was initially impacted but was restored shortly after the incident.

KSL reached out to the company that owns the truck, Innovative Exacavation Inc. out of West Jordan, who declined to comment, saying they don’t know enough about what happened.
Bountiful city officials said the dump truck was not under a contractor affiliated with any city projects.
