Utah’s ‘Candy Bomber’ Infected With COVID-19

PROVO, Utah – Utah’s celebrated “Candy Bomber” from the post-World War II Berlin Blockade is now fighting COVID-19.
100-year-old Gail Halvorsen flew missions during World War II and after the war earned his nickname by dropping treats to children during the Berlin Airlift.
American and British pilots delivered tons of food and supplies during the airlift after the Soviet Union blockaded West Berlin following the end of World War II.
Halvorsen turned 100 years old earlier this year.
His daughters said prayers for her dad are welcome but they are asking for privacy as they focus on his recovery.
