Additional 14 Utahns Die From COVID-19; 2.6K Test Positive

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – An additional 14 Utahns have died as a result of COVID-19, health officials reported Friday.
So far, 1,140 of the state’s residents have been killed by the virus.
Another 2,644 people have tested positive, and there are currently 539 people who are hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19.
To date, 1,347 people in Utah have received the vaccine.

Testing
The Utah Department of Health reported 1,623,795 residents have been tested for COVID-19 so far. That’s an increase of 10,547 tests from Thursday’s report.
Of those, a total of 245,562 have tested positive, which is an increase of 2,644 cases from yesterday.
The rolling seven-day average for positive tests is 2,494 per day, and the rolling seven-day average for percent of positive laboratory tests is 22.12%. The seven-day percent of positive tests has been slowly decreasing over the past week.
Hospitalizations
There are currently 539 people hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19, and 206 of those patients are in intensive care units. Another 10 people are hospitalized with suspected cases of COVID-19.
Utah’s ICUs are currently 95.2% full, and the ICU beds in the state’s 16 hospitals that are best equipped to treat COVID-19 patients are 99.3% full.
The state’s threshold for quality ICU care is 85% capacity due to the number of caregivers available.
Deaths
COVID-19 has killed 14 more of Utah’s residents, bringing the death toll to 1,140.

- Male, between 65-84, Carbon County resident, unknown if hospitalized at time of death
- Female, between 65-84, Davis County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Emery County resident, not hospitalized at time of death
- Female, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, not hospitalized at time of death
- Female, between 45-64, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Female, older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, not hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 45-64, Sanpete County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Female, between 65-84, Utah County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Washington County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 45-64, Weber County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Female, older than 85, Weber County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Female, between 45-64, Weber County resident, not hospitalized at time of death
Vaccinations
Utah has received 14,625 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine so far, and 1,347 have been inoculated.
