Larry H. Miller Coin Collection Auctioned For Nearly $24M; Proceeds Going To Lehi Children’s Hospital

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The celebrated coin collection of late Utah Jazz owner Larry H. Miller sold for nearly $24 million dollars according to auction house Stack’s Bower Galleries.
The auction happed in two different sales. The first auction last month realized $9,057,072 and the second auction Thursday brought in $14, 579,302, a news release from the Stack’s Bower Galleries said.
Miller gathered the coins over several decades and “included an astounding array of rarities that are found in only the most legendary cabinets in U. S. numismatics,” the release said.
The entire collection included nearly 1,600 coins. It was special to Miller and he asked his wife, Gail, to sell the coins at his passing, an earlier news release said.
Nearly a year ago Intermountain Healthcare announced plans for a second Primary Children’s Hospital campus to be built in Lehi.
Ground was broken on the site last month. The hospital will open in 2023.

Miller died in 2009, and he owned the Utah Jazz for nearly 25 years.
Larry H. Miller established several successful businesses, including several car dealerships in western states and the Megaplex chain of movie theaters. He was a lifelong resident of Salt Lake City and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
