12 Additional Utahns Have Died From COVID

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Twelve additional Utahns have died as a result of COVID-19.
Another 2,302 have tested positive for the virus.
Currently, there are 544 people hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19.
Testing
The Utah Department of Health on Tuesday reported 1,657,278 residents have been tested for COVID-19 so far. That’s an increase of 8,360 tests from Monday’s numbers.
Of those, a total of 255,085 have tested positive for the virus, which is an increase of 2,302 cases from yesterday’s report.
The rolling seven-day average for positive tests is 2,478 per day, and the rolling seven-day average for percent of positive laboratory tests is 23.7%.
Hospitalizations
There are currently 544 people hospitalized with COVID-19, and 202 of those patients are in intensive care units. Another 42 people are hospitalized with suspected cases of COVID-19.
Utah’s ICUs are 88.5% full, and the state’s 16 hospitals that are best equipped to treat COVID-19 patients are 90.7% full.
Deaths
An additional 12 Utahns have been killed by COVID-19. To date, 1,173 of the state’s residents have lost their lives because of the virus.
The following individuals’ deaths were reported Tuesday:
- Female, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Female, between 65-84, Utah County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, between 45-64, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Female, between 65-84, Washington County resident, not hospitalized
- Male, between 65-84, Box Elder County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Female, between 45-64, Salt Lake County resident, not hospitalized
- Female, older than 85, Utah County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Female, between 65-84, Utah County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, between 45-64, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Female, older than 85, Washington County resident, not hospitalized
- Female, between 45-64, Uintah County resident, not hospitalized
Vaccinations
A total of 8,518 people have been vaccinated so far.
