Authorities Identify Man Killed In Avalanche On Friday

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Authorities have identified the man who was killed in a backcountry avalanche on Friday.

According to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, Kevin Jack Steuterman, 31, of Clinton, was caught in the avalanche in the Dutch Draw area of the county, which is located outside resort boundaries near Park City Mountain Canyons Village.

Steuterman was attempting to snowboard down a steep backcountry terrain when he triggered the avalanche.

Crews were able to locate his body Friday morning.

“Our hearts break for the Steuterman family and friends,” according to a statement from SCSO. “Hug your loved ones often and tell them you love them.”
